Microscopic Photographs of Pollen and Mold |
Microscopic photographs of pollens taken at the Asthma & Allergy Center of Whatcom County.
Tree and weed pollen taken on 6.15.02. Notice the large pine pollen on the right,
compared to the smaller weed pollen in the lower left hand corner. A tree pollen,
hemlock is in the upper left hand corner. The large size of the pine pollen makes it
much less allergenic than grass and weed pollen. These heavy pine pollens make
up the yellow dust seen on cars and other surfaces in the spring time.

Scotch broom pollen at 1000x. The bright yellow weed plants seen in June produce this pollen,
which may cause allergy symptoms in some persons, but it is less allergenic than tree and
grass pollen.
